If you were to see a therapist, they would probably focus quite a bit on helping you unpack your past and sort through your emotions in effort to better understand how you got where you are today. You might revisit and sort through old memories together and work to heal old traumas and wounds.
The work of healing old wounds and sorting through the past is important, but needs to stay limited to your relationship with your therapist if you have one. When it comes to coaching, I am more concerned about what thoughts, feelings and behaviors are giving you trouble in the here and now and helping you map a way forward using tools and strategies that will help you reach your goals for the future.
Our work together will be very solution-focused and goal-oriented to hopefully get you from where you are now to where you want to go in a shorter time than most people typically spend in therapy.
